Virginia Highland Books is snuggled in the center of beautiful, historic Virginia Highlands. Virginia Highlands is the perfect oasis of a walkable neighborhood with a friendly, small town feel situated in the heart of the thriving city of Atlanta.

  • The bookstore needs a more intuitive way of purchasing books.

  • The website needs a way to search for books by genres.

  • Customers needs a way to sign up for events being held at bookstore through a calendar.

In effort to understand users behavior here are some of the statistics from the user surveys:

  • Primary age demographic 22-35

  • 7 surveys

  • 6 user interviewees

  • They regularly us online bookstores to purchase all reading material.

To understand the market for purchasing books helped me identify gaps in the industry, I performed a feature inventory against three direct competitors, Rizzoli, RJ Julia and unabridged. We listed the various common and unique features. Here are the top features that could enhance the user experience for Virginia Highlands bookstore:

How Might We...

  • Make a intuitive website navigation process that assist Chris with finding the

    genre of book he’s looking and offer suggestions for him to add to his reading list.

  • Add an events tab with a calendar displaying up and coming events for him to sign his children up for.

  • Create a seamless checkout process so Chris and other website viewers feel confident

    inputting their credit card information.
